Keep your fire pit safe this winter

We don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but winter is coming. With that, snow and colder temperatures will be imminent. How should you keep your Blue Sky fire pit protected from the winter elements? You’ve come to the right place to ensure it stays in tip-top shape!

Follow along for the best practices of keeping your fire pit safe during the frigid winter season ahead. Even those in warmer winter climates should follow these tips.

For the colder states

Snow is starting to fall, and you gather your layers as you make the trek outside. Winter is here, which means you’ll be spending more time indoors. In anticipation of warmer weather and fire pit season, you want to put your fire pit away for the season.

Fire pits should not be left outside while not in use, especially for long periods of time. The exposure to weather may cause your fire pit to develop a rusted patina. Your fire pit should be stored in a dry location, such as a shed, garage or barn to preserve it. We also have protective covers to help extend the life of your fire pit!

If you’re feeling adventurous and cooped up, or you get a mild winter day, pull out your fire pit to keep warm. Make sure you put it away after the fire burns out and is cool!

For the warmer states

Even if you live in a warmer state where winter doesn’t truly come, you should still adhere to the tips stated above. UV rays will also cause a rusted patina if your fire pit is left outside and uncovered. So, for those with more time to enjoy the outdoors year round, be sure to still put away or cover your fire pit when not in use.

Nevertheless, it is still winter and the temperature may get chilly, which makes a smokeless fire pit the perfect place to warm up by!
